“Two of the families have only recently been referred, so it was nice for them to get involved and find out more about what we offer” – children, siblings and parents enjoy a special trip to The Fitzwilliam Museum

Families came together for a day of fun and learning during a private tour and special photoshoot at The Fitzwilliam Museum.

Mums, dads, siblings and a grandparent attended and the theme of the day was light and dark.

The visit started with a guided tour conducted by the museum’s Family Programme Coordinator, Florencia Nannetti, as well as some of its front-of-house staff.

Then, after lunch, families went into the studio for a photoshoot with Stevan Stratford, artist in residence at St Barnabus House hospice, in West Sussex.

They used an array of coloured lights to produce some eye-catching images.

“Eighteen people representing five families attended and it was a great success,” said EACH Family Support Practitioner Fay Wilde.

“The feedback was so positive and we’re very thankful for our great relationship with The Fitzwilliam Museum.

“The children were engaged throughout, had fun together and asked lots of questions. They were particularly interested in the Egyptian display.

“It was also great to see the parents chatting and enjoying each other’s company.

“Two of the families have only recently been referred, so it was nice for them to get involved and find out more about what we offer.

“It was a great opportunity to develop relationships.”

The visit took place on Monday, 19th February and Fay said one of the highlights was the photoshoot with Stevan.

“His pictures were stunning and, as well as being great fun at the time, they made a lovely keepsake for the families,” she said.

“Stevan was brilliant and so patient, which is reflected by the quality of the images he produced. They speak for themselves.”
