Determined Center Parcs colleagues completed a monster 84-mile walk and raised more than £11,000 for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
Twenty-one hardy members of the Elveden Forest team trekked the complete Norfolk Coastal Path, starting in Hunstanton and finishing in Hopton-on-Sea.
They completed the extraordinary feat – dubbed Trek84 – in just four days, camping along the way, and among those to complete the distance was Elveden Forest Village Director Nicky Richardson, who is also an EACH Trustee.
“Both physically and mentally, it was one of the toughest challenges I’ve ever completed,” she said.
“However, every step was worth it, and the team was incredible, supporting each other from start to finish.
“Knowing we were raising money for EACH kept us going when things got hard. It was an incredible experience, and I’m so proud of what we achieved together for such a vital cause.”
The colleagues, who were joined by a support crew of five, were met at the finish line by EACH’s Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships, Caroline Allen, and Senior Corporate Fundraiser Laura Southcott.
Caroline said: “We’re sending our sincere thanks and congratulations to the incredible Center Parcs team.
“What they’ve achieved is an amazing feat, both physically and mentally, and we’re in awe, as well as extremely grateful for their continued support.
“The Elveden Forest team are brilliant, and we’re so proud of the wonderful relationship we’ve developed.
“It’s resulted in some incredible fundraising on their part, which has a lasting impact and directly helps the children, young people and families receiving our care and support. We couldn’t be more appreciative.”
EACH already has a close relationship with Center Parcs thanks to the latter’s partnership with Together for Short Lives – the national charity supporting all 53 of the UK’s children’s hospices. Every village is linked to its local hospice, and, at Elveden, that is The Nook.
It was not the first time Center Parcs colleagues had taken on a walking challenge for EACH.
A group raised £9,000 by completing last year’s Pier 2 Pier Norfolk trek, taking in a 32-mile stretch of the Norfolk Coastal Path.
This year’s walk took place from 26th to 29th June.
