“If you’ve got novels gathering dust at home, bring them in and let someone else enjoy the story while also helping a great cause” – bookworms are being encouraged to help write a new chapter by donating their pre-loved paperbacks

A much-loved charity shop is calling on bookworms to donate their pre-loved paperbacks and help turn pages into pounds.

The East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) store in Beccles has a popular book section running along the back shelves of its New Market home.

It stocks everything from gripping thrillers, mysteries and memoirs to sci-fi sagas and sweeping romances.

Customers love browsing the area, looking for their next great read, but new stock is needed to keep it fresh and updated.

“Paperbacks sell well, fly out the door and are always among our most popular items – more so than glossy hardbacks,” said shop manager Neil Monk.

“We have a large collection of them but are always on the lookout for extra donations and fresh titles.

“Every paperback that comes through our door helps raise vital funds for children and families receiving care and support, which is why we’re calling on our community for help.

“If you’ve got novels gathering dust at home, bring them in and let someone else enjoy the story while also helping a great cause. Every donation and subsequent purchase becomes a meaningful contribution.”

The shop sells paperbacks for £1.25 or two for £2. Good-condition donations can be dropped off during the shop’s opening hours, which are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday.

Meanwhile, Neil says he would also love to hear from any potential volunteers interested in joining his team in Beccles.

Extra pairs of hands are always appreciated, with various roles to suit all interests. He would especially love to hear from anyone interested in overseeing the books and media section, or keen to raise funds by listing items on eBay.
