“I’m blessed to be part of a special community at the gym. To have raised what we have is no mean feat, a real achievement and something to be extremely proud of” – Body Transform Fitness coaches and members scale Snowdon and take their fundraising total close to £25,000

Fitness fanatics faced their biggest challenge yet to show their support and commitment to a leading children’s hospice.

Over 50 coaches and members of Norwich’s Body Transform Fitness scaled Snowdon and managed to raise over £6,000 – smashing targets and taking their overall total close to £25,000.

They took on the mountainous mission for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH), which has three bases, including The Nook, and it followed hot on the heels of an incredible fundraising effort throughout 2023 and into 2024.

EACH Corporate Fundraising Manager Caroline Allen, who is a member of the gym and took part in the climb, said: “It was hard going but, as is always the case with our challenges, everyone sticks together and is incredibly supportive.

“It makes me very proud, in that I’m regularly at Body Transform Fitness but also work for EACH.

“I’m blessed to be part of a special community at the gym. To have raised what we have is no mean feat, a real achievement and something to be extremely proud of.

“With my work hat on, I also know how important these funds are in terms of helping us continue our vital work.”

As part of its quest to raise funds, staff and members took part in last year’s Tough Mudder 15k event at Belvoir Castle, in Grantham.

The gym also organised an overnight ’12 in 12’ event in August, where members and non-members completed a dozen workouts in as many hours.

Meanwhile, nearly 70 members worked up a sweat by signing up for a HYROX session, in March. The new fitness craze combines different exercises with interval runs and the group managed to raise £720.

Gym manager Dean Rudling said: “Our goal had been to hit £20,000 by the end of the year, so to be there already is amazing and it’s our pleasure to support EACH.

“It’s clearly an incredible charity and one that does an amazing job.

“Thanks to everyone who supported and sponsored us and full credit to those who took part in the challenge.

“Not only did they push themselves at the time, they also put in lots of training hikes and walks ahead of the event itself.”
