Kind-hearted motorbike enthusiasts from the Suffolk Trail Riders revved into action and delivered another bumper cheque to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) after raising funds from their latest Iceni Weekender.
The annual charity trail-riding event covers roughly 120 miles each day across the trails of Suffolk and Norfolk. All proceeds and entry donations go to local and regional charities and, of the £10,000 raised, £2,000 was donated to EACH.
Representatives from the group handed the money over and received a warm welcome during a visit to EACH’s shop in Angel Link, Halesworth. Over the course of the last eight years, the group has raised a magnificent £18,500 for EACH.
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone involved with the Suffolk Trail Riders for their fantastic support,” said Dan Bailey, EACH’s Senior Community Fundraiser for Suffolk. “To have raised £18,500 over the past eight years is a remarkable achievement and one that will make a real difference to the children, young people and families who rely on our support. We’d like to thank everyone who took part in the Iceni Weekender, as well as those who organised and supported the event. Their generosity and commitment are greatly appreciated.”
The weekend is anchored at The Angel Inn, in Larling, near Snetterton in Norfolk, where the riders camp, socialise and set off from each morning.
On the first day, the ride traditionally goes through Norfolk. Groups navigate trails up through areas like Swaffham and the Sandringham Estate, typically making it all the way to the seaside town of Hunstanton. Day two switches focus entirely, sending the groups south to tackle a network of distinct green lanes and byways across Suffolk.
