“They enjoyed pushing themselves, and it was lovely to see their proud faces as they climbed to the top of the walls. I can honestly say they didn’t stop smiling” – siblings scale the heights during a trip to Clip ‘n Climb

Children showed their agility and scaled the heights during a fun-packed outing organised by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

The visit to Clip ‘n Climb Cambridge was for siblings who are either bereaved or have a brother or sister receiving care at Milton.

Nine children took part, and they met at the hospice before travelling in style, courtesy of Dews Coaches.

The Cambridge-based company is a long-term supporter and provides transport for sibling days completely free of charge.

The children then had a short safety briefing, learning how to clip and unclip themselves, before attaching their safety harnesses and starting to climb.

They tackled various walls, including the centre’s two extreme challenges – Stairway to Heaven and the Vertical Drop Slide

After their session, the children enjoyed some time on the playground back at Milton and tried to spot butterflies as part of the Big Butterfly Count – a nationwide project run by Butterfly Conservation.

EACH Groups and Events Co-ordinator Ceri Dobson said: “Everyone had an amazing time, and we were so grateful to Clip ‘n Climb.

“The session was offered free of charge, and I can honestly say the children didn’t stop smiling.

“They enjoyed pushing themselves, and it was lovely to see their proud faces as they climbed to the top of the walls and pressed the buttons.

“They felt a real sense of achievement and also enjoyed taking on the two extreme challenges.”

EACH runs sibling days during every school holiday, allowing brothers and sisters to come together, have fun and make friends in a safe environment.

EACH supports families and cares for children and young people across Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Essex and Norfolk. In addition to Milton, it also has hospices in Ipswich and near Norwich.
