Dedicated Women’s Institute members presented cheques to two charities close to their hearts after raising funds throughout 2025.
The Holywell-cum-Needingworth WI group stitched together a variety of activities to show their support for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) and Arthur Rank Hospice Charity.
Cheques were recently presented to both charities, with Victoria Goldsmith, Senior Community Fundraiser for Cambridgeshire, receiving one for £250 on behalf of EACH.
The money was raised in various fun ways, including selling books at monthly meetings, ‘knit and natter’ sessions and a Scrabble club.
Members also organised tombolas and sold lucky bags and wreaths from a stall at the village’s popular Christmas bazaar.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the members’ fantastic support,” said Victoria.
“Fundraising like this makes a real difference, helping us provide vital care and support to children and families.
“We can’t thank them enough for their creativity, kindness and generosity.”
Holywell-cum-Needingworth WI has 55 members, and they meet on a monthly basis in the village hall. The club was formed in 1921, had a short closure at the end of the 1960s and reformed in 1975.
The group has raised money for local charities over the years, with members deciding which worthy causes to support. This was the first time they have supported EACH.
