FAQs

What is Pier 2 Pier Norfolk?

Pier 2 Pier Norfolk is a 32 mile walk along the Norfolk Coastal Path between Cromer Pier and Britannia Pier, Great Yarmouth. The aim is to complete the walk within 12 hours. Please do not underestimate this challenge!  32 miles along multi-terrain (sand, shingle, paths, dunes) is physically demanding but the sense of achievement will be amazing when you’re enjoying your hot food at the end!

Who can take part?

All participants must be aged 16 and over on the day of the event. (Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult taking part).

What support do I get?

We will be with you every step of the way. The route will be fully marked for you and you will be provided with handy route guides which will keep you updated with information about the areas you’re passing through, as well as nearest local facilities.

There will be four rest stops along the route, 3 with drinks and snacks, as well as water refills. At the finish line you will be welcomed with fish & chips and high fives!

What about rest stops?

There will be water and snacks available at three rest stops plus sandwiches, wraps & salads at the lunch stop. If there is any specific food or drink you require you will need to bring this yourself on the day.  Rest stops will be short (10 minutes) so you will not have time to go to shops and buy supplies. For the lunch stop please only stop for a maximum of 30 minutes. The stops have been planned to have toilet and hand washing facilities available.

What should I wear?

We cannot stress the importance of good kit and equipment.  We suggest the following:

  • Walking boots/shoes – these need to be comfortable and not new on the day!
  • Socks – a good pair or 2!
  • Lightweight jacket – windproof/waterproof
  • Rucksack for essentials (water, nutrition, spare clothing, wet weather and hot weather gear)
  • Camelback – not essential but a great way to keep hydrated and also to carry a few snacks and keep a thin layer of clothing in.
  • Base layers – great to prevent chaffing!!! (Lanacane just in case they don’t prevent it)
  • Sun cream and hat
  • Compeed – worth having with you just in case
  • Any medical supplies you need

How do I get to the event?

There is an optional coach travel in the morning, from the finish line at Great Yarmouth to the start line at Cromer. You can choose to sign up for this travel when registering online. This is a great option if you are making your own way to the challenge without support, as it allows you to park your car near to the finish line( parking charge not included), handy for when you finish the challenge.

Alternatively, you can make arrangements for a friend or family member to drop you off or pick you up.

Do I need to train?

We highly recommend you train for this challenge, 32 miles is a long way and should not be underestimated. Remember to wear the same kit you plan to walk in during the challenge. Please do not turn up having completed no training as you won’t complete the challenge!

Do I have to raise sponsorship money?

We ask that you try and raise a minimum of £250 in sponsorship. Your entry fee covers the cost of your entry to the event, so fundraising will help us continue to support children and young people with life threatening conditions. Sponsor forms can be downloaded from our website and must be returned as soon as possible after the event, along with all the fantastic funds you have raised. When you sign up a personal Enthuse fundraising page will be created and emailed to you.
