Staff and volunteers from a children’s charity shop will be walking in a ‘wynter’ wonderland this weekend.
Wymondham’s Wynterfest Christmas festival is taking place on Sunday (5th December) and among those feeling festive are the team from the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices shop, in Market Place.
The popular shop will be open from 10am until 4pm – possibly longer, depending on footfall – and customers will be able to enter a raffle and tombola, as well as enjoying a mince pie. One of the top prizes is a stunning Christmas hamper.
“The Dickensian nights that used to take place in Wymondham were always a great success and our shop used to be jam-packed,” said EACH Shop Manager Becky Cooke.
“This is a new idea but hopefully it’ll be just as popular. Hopefully people show their community spirit and turn out to support businesses and shops like ours.
“It should be a very positive day and we’ll be doing our best to play our part and make it a special day for Wymondham.”
Wynterfest will feature outdoor stalls, food and drink outlets and an indoor market, while Father Christmas is set to make a special visit to the Norfolk town.
Meanwhile, Becky would also be keen to hear from anyone who might be interested in volunteering at the shop, which is open from 9am until 5pm Monday to Friday and, until New Year’s Day, 10am until 4pm on Sundays.
“We’re always on the lookout for more helpers,” added Becky.
“Our shop is a big one on two floors, so we can never have too many pairs of hands.
“There are a variety of roles, including helping out in our dedicated book and toy rooms.
“Anyone willing to help out can give me a call, send me an email or, better still, pop in for a mince pie and a chat on Sunday.”
