It’s a special, significant week for everyone here at East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
The 38th annual Volunteers’ Week (1st to 7th June) is a national celebration and our chance to say a truly heartfelt thanks to the extraordinary army of people who give up their time to help our wonderful cause.
From those who support families in their own homes to others who work in our hospices, shops and help at fundraising events, we owe these selfless heroes a huge debt of gratitude.
The theme for this year’s campaign is ‘a time to say thanks’ and, quite simply, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do – supporting families and caring for children and young people with life-threatening conditions – without these kind-hearted individuals.
We all know how vital the support of volunteers has been to charities and local communities in the last year and it’s no exaggeration or over-statement to say our operation would grind to a halt without them. That’s the reality of the situation.
Of course, we can always do with extra help and I’d wholeheartedly encourage anyone to step forward and join us.
We’re blessed with a passionate, dedicated team who work tirelessly for the cause but are always looking for extra pairs of hands. We can never have too many!
I can guarantee a friendly and appreciative welcome and I’m sure you will get something special from it, too, working in a sociable, productive environment where you feel safe and supported.
There’s always plenty going on and it’s an opportunity to meet people, learn new skills and develop friendships.
It doesn’t matter if you can only offer a couple of hours a week or even fortnight. A little helps makes a big difference.
Volunteers are the fuel that drives our organisation forward and it’s thanks to them – and you, potentially – that we’re able to provide our vital care services.
If you fancy joining our team, please do email volunteerservices@each.org.uk or get more details via each.org.uk/get-involved/volunteering
We’d be delighted to hear from you.
For now, though, I’d like to say a sincere thanks once again to our legion of brilliant, wonderful volunteers.
You are at the very heart of everything we do.
Best wishes,
Phil Gormley
