Visitors to the Robinson Crusoe pantomime in Hethersett have given generously to boost the nook appeal by £2,500 and counting.
Judith Sykes, who leads the nook friends group, was on hand at the final of nine performances on Saturday to collect a cheque from cast members.
She said: “Hethersett Pantomime Group members are all amateurs, but the performance was very professional and very enjoyable - oh yes it was!”
Hethersett panto members are currently on a proud unbroken run, having produced 49 pantomimes every year since 1970. Classics such as Sleeping Beauty and Aladdin have been performed many times but, incredibly, this year was the group’s first time doing Robinson Crusoe.
The shows were at the village hall in Back Lane and sponsored by Jewson, the village’s Queens Head pub, Tesco Express as well as 101 Website Design & Development.
Performances are always followed by bucket collections and the total raised for good causes since 1970 is a staggering £107,350.
Another recent donation to the appeal was from Brooke Ladies Evening Group. The women have spent the last year fundraising and subsequently handed the nook friends group a cheque for £2,300.
