FAQs

What can I expect from the accommodation?

Accommodation on both days are basic hotels (Premier Inn) in city locations, picked for their proximity to our route. The hotels are very good standard with en-suite facilities, offering exceptional value for money. All rooms are twin share. If you would like to share a room with someone you know you can enter their name in the Participant Information Form once you’ve signed up, otherwise we will allocate your room with another participant.

What food is included and does it cater for all diets?

A morning refreshment stop, lunch and an afternoon refreshment stop will be provided on all three days as part of the event package. Those doing the whole 3 day cycle ride will also have an evening meal on Friday and Saturday, and breakfast on the morning of Saturday and Sunday at the hotels. You can enter any dietary requirements in the Participant Information Form.

Who will be there to support me during the event?

Ride for Life will be led by the experienced, Chapeau Events Ltd crew. A fully accessible route with detailed itinerary and points of interest cards will be issued during the event. You will be issued ‘Ride with GPS’ routes with navigational left and right turns no later than one week before event start. They will also fix any mechanical problems with your bike and offer lots of encouragement! To find out more about Chapeau Events Ltd, visit https://www.chapeauevents.co.uk/.

Will I be safe?

Your safety, and that of the rest of the group, is our highest priority. The route has been designed and planned with safety in mind and there will be first aid cover throughout the event. All event participants must observe the law of the land relating to road travel and bicycles must be in good working order and comply with Road Traffic Regulations.

What happens to my luggage each day?

Support vehicles are with the group during the whole event. All luggage will be carried in them as we travel to each destination. On reaching our hotels at the end of each day, you will collect your luggage when checking in. Each morning, on check out of the hotel, you will hand your luggage to our support crew from Chapeau Events Ltd. Space is limited and hard-sided luggage is not suitable, so it essential that your kit is packed in a soft sailing bag, rucksack or expedition kit-bag.

How will I know where I am going?

This is a fully supported ride and you will have a dedicated event crew at your service throughout the event. A fully accessible route with detailed itinerary and points of interest cards will be issued during the event. You will be issued ‘Ride with GPS’ routes with navigational left and right turns no later than one week before event start. This will be a helpful guide as well as a reference to ensure you are on route.

What kit do I need?

You will be issued with a complete kit list closer to the event, however to help with training, Chapeau Events Ltd advise concentrating the quality kit on the parts of your body that contact the bike, such as hands, feet and bum! It is a necessity that all cyclists wear a suitable helmet during the event and a good fit is very important.

Chapeau Events Ltd recommend using a road bike. A mountain bike is not suitable as the majority of your energy will be wasted due to heavy frames and thicker tyres; making completion of the challenge a lot harder than on a road bike.

What does your support mean to us?

We rely on public support for the majority of our income. You can help us to raise the vital funds needed to continue to provide care and support to children, young people and their families.
