Snap up your early-bird tickets and get ready for an action-packed year of fundraising fun

A leading children’s charity is hoping for a record-breaking year after releasing details of its fundraising schedule for 2022.

East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) has lined up six eagerly-anticipated events, including a cycle challenge, a children’s obstacle course, a Bubble Rush and two popular Splash Outs!

A date has also been confirmed for its annual pier-to-pier walk, which sees hundreds of hardy participants stroll along the coast from Cromer to Great Yarmouth.

The fun-packed diary will hopefully raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for EACH, which supports families and cares for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex.

Early-bird schemes apply for the next few weeks, so anyone interested is urged to act quickly and sign up for a discounted fee.

Jess Mallett, EACH Events Fundraising Assistant, said: “We’re incredibly excited about our events diary for 2022.

“There’s something for everyone and the early signs are encouraging, with people excited about the year ahead.

“After such a difficult time because of the pandemic, we’re looking forward with real confidence.

“Hopefully the public engage and support us because we’re hopeful this will be a record-breaking year.

“These events are so important in terms of fundraising.

“They bring in hundreds of thousands of people and that money is invaluable, in terms of allowing us to continue providing the very best care and support.”

EACH’s events diary kicks off with the Ride for Life event, from 6th to 8th May.

The popular challenge, for keen cyclists and amateurs alike, takes participants on a stunning journey through the stunning East Anglian countryside.

Three and one-day routes are available and the ride is fully supported.

Anyone interested can get a 50% discount (£50 compared to £100) on the three-day challenge if they sign up before 31st January. This includes food and hotel stays.

Next up is the water and fun-filled Bury St Edmunds Splash Out!

More than 800 people took part in 2021 and this year’s event is taking place on 15th May.

Adults and children alike can run, walk or jog through a five-kilometre course, tackling six inflatable obstacles including wobbly floating bridges and ball dodges.

Little ones can do half the distance – three obstacles over a 2.5km course – and early-bird tickets are available until 13th February.

The 32-mile Cromer to Great Yarmouth pier-to-pier walk is scheduled for 25th June – early-bird tickets are available until 31st January – and there are two events sure to appeal to families in the diary for July.

First up is The Piglet Junior Hog in Woodbridge on 3rd July.

This is an entry level four-kilometre muddy obstacle course open to those who wish to run with children (8+ years) and their family, or those looking for a shorter route than the usual Whole Hog.

Tickets are available at a reduced price until the end of January.

EACH’s Norwich Bubble Rush will take place on 16th July but families are advised to get in quickly as super early-bird tickets are available until 13th February. Last year’s event was attended by a sell-out 1,500 people.

The course features four bubble stations along a 2.5km route. Participants can do one lap or double their enjoyment by completing the circuit twice.

Each bubble station has a cannon which pumps out coloured foam to create a four-foot deep bubble bath.

The final fundraiser is another Splash Out!, this time in Huntingdon on 17th September. Super early-bird tickets are on sale until 13th February.

Hannah Forbester, EACH Events Fundraiser, said: “It’s a really diverse selection of events, from those that are perhaps more physically demanding to those that are perfect for children and families.

“However, what they have in common is that they’re all big participation events.

“They should be great fun and everyone within our team is excited and positive about the prospect of what we hope will be a successful 2022.

“Hopefully this year will see records broken, both in terms of participation numbers and the amounts raised.”

EACH has three hospices – The Nook, in Framingham Earl, near Norwich, The Treehouse, In Ipswich and at Milton, near Cambridge.
