“He told his mum he wanted to help children who are not as fortunate as him. He looked at local charities and thought EACH would be a great one to support” – seven-year-old Olly raises £1,365 after cycling a gruelling 50 miles

A super-fit seven-year-old showed steely determination to cycle 50 miles and raise more than £1,000 for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH). Kind-hearted Olly Whittle completed the gruelling challenge along with mum Becky.

They set off from their family home in Old Buckingham and cycled via country roads to Olly’s grandparents’ house in Acle.

Olly had initially set himself a fundraising target of £500 but his final total was £1,365. He proudly presented a cheque to EACH Community Fundraiser Ellie Miller at The Nook, in Framingham Earl.

Dad Rob said: “We were all so proud of Olly. He did brilliantly on the day and that was despite having to take an enforced break after getting a puncture at Shotesham.

“It was something he dearly wanted to do and he was the one who decided which charity to support. He told his mum he wanted to help children who are not as fortunate as him. He looked at local charities and thought EACH would be a great one to support.”

Olly and Becky’s marathon bike ride took place on Saturday, 29th July.

Olly, a big football fan who recently watched his beloved Norwich City win their first game of the season against Hull City, was joined at The Nook by his dad and four-year-old brother, Dylan.
