Families that receive care and support from a leading children’s charity have the chance to get behind their local football team thanks to a generous donation of tickets.
Ipswich Town Football Club have handed over two half-season tickets – which grant entry to their remaining home games – to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices.
It underlines the great relationship between EACH and Town and Billie Nugent, EACH Corporate Fundraiser, says the tickets will be greatly enjoyed by families that visit The Treehouse hospice, in Ipswich.
She said: “It’s a lovely gesture and one that will be appreciated by our families.
“They will be available on an ad hoc basis so different families will be able to get down to Portman Road.
“It will be a fun opportunity and give them some welcome respite at what is sure to be a challenging time in their lives.”
Ipswich players got together to send a special video message to EACH just before Christmas.
They were unable to visit the hospice and deliver presents as they normally would, because of COVID regulations.
However, they still wanted to pass on their best wishes so recorded the message for families to enjoy.
They also donated money to buy games for the hospice’s PlayStation.
The club donated various raffle prizes last year, including a sought-after hospitality box for EACH’s Happy Christmas Ipswich event at the Regent in December.
Host Griff Rhys Jones appeared on stage wearing Town’s kit and that was donated by the Blues.
“We’ve got a fantastic relationship with our friends at Ipswich Town,” added Billie.
“Both our organisation and the football club are important parts of the community and it’s great working together on so many things.
“I’m hopeful that relationship will continue to grow and go from strength to strength in 2022.”
Six EACH staff and volunteers took part in a bucket collection at Portman Road prior to Ipswich’s home game against Sunderland, on 18th December. It raised nearly £700.
If you are a family using our services, we will be contacting you next week to let you know how to be in with chance of using the tickets.
