Pop in for some bargains and a mince pie at EACH’s late-night shopping event in Diss

Christmas shoppers have the chance to snap up some bargains during a late-night opening event in Diss.

The town’s East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) shop, in Chapel Street, will be getting in the festive spirit by handing out mince pies and staying open until 6pm.

It is part of Diss’ big Christmas lights switch-on on Saturday (27th November), which will also feature stalls, face painting, a fun fair at Mere’s Mouth, live music, a visit from Santa and a chance to meet the panto cast from Snow White.

Neil Baker, EACH Shop Manager, said: “This traditional event is much-loved in the town and we’ll be celebrating and enjoying the festivities in our shop.

“We’ll be staying open for an extra hour, handing out mince pies and looking forward to seeing and serving lots of customers.

“It’s a great opportunity for people to snap up bargains and get organised with their Christmas shopping.”

Neil is also keen to hear from anyone who might be interested in volunteering at the shop.

“That would be amazing because we’re always on the lookout for anyone who might be able to pitch in and give us some of their valuable time,” he said.

“There’s such a range of opportunities, from till-work and clothes-sorting to helping organise bric-a-brac, books and eBay sales.

“There are lots of things to have a go at and we’re very flexible.”

In addition to being on hand for a chat this weekend, Neil will be manning a volunteer recruitment stall at the market in Diss on Friday, 3rd December.

“Any time people can spare would be massively appreciated and I’d certainly encourage them to give the gift of time this Christmas,” he added.

“Even having an extra pair of hands a couple of hours a week would be so helpful, to help stay on top of donations and keep the shop looking great.

“They’d be joining a fantastic team. As well as working hard for an amazing charity, we also have fun and share a laugh.

“It’s a great atmosphere and a very enjoyable environment.”
