A husband and wife duo have already raised more than £1,000 for charity after compiling another of their popular Christmas quizzes.
Jack Hedley and Amelia Reynolds team up for the festive fun, which is now in its fourth year and, in total, has raised more than £8,000.
The quiz can be printed off and used at any family or group get-together, in exchange for a donation to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
Topics to test the grey matter include general knowledge, trivia, food and drink and celebrity and landmark picture rounds.
This year alone, Jack and Amelia have already surpassed £1,000.
“Our quizzes have grown and grown and lots of people tell us it’s become a tradition in their household, which is lovely,” said Jack, from Colchester.
“We start getting messages about it from September onwards!
“It’s very satisfying, doing something that creates fun for families and groups of friends while also raising valuable funds for charity.
“This year, we’re again raising money for EACH, which is an incredible organisation providing a range of services for children with life-threatening conditions.
“Our friend’s teenage son, William, benefitted greatly from their care while suffering from an incurable brain tumour. Tragically, he passed away in August 2021.”
Jack, 70, has been writing quizzes for about 20 years.
Family and friends always asked for print-outs and it was suggested he should sell copies to raise funds for charity.
Since 2020, he has kept a spreadsheet of everyone who has previously donated and that list is now 200-strong.
“I’ve dug deep into my contacts book and we’ve already surpassed £1,000,” added Jack.
“It’s still quite early so I’m optimistic we can emulate last year’s total of £1,700.
“I hope people enjoy it and, in terms of difficulty, I try and pitch questions somewhere in the middle.
“It can be crushing doing a quiz and not being able to answer anything. That’s not enjoyable for anyone. Equally, I don’t want it to be too easy.
“I’ve tried to get the balance right and also weaved in questions for children, so hopefully it’s something the whole family can enjoy together.”
While Jack compiles the quiz, Amelia organises the fundraising side of things and manages their JustGiving page.
To get a copy of the quiz, head here. Alternatively, log into JustGiving.com, type Amelia Reynolds 2023 in the search bar and you will see this year’s fundraising page. The suggested minimum donation is £5.
“Once we see your name on JustGiving – please put your full name – we’ll email you the quiz pack, including instructions,” added Jack.
“It may also be best to drop me a quick email (jack.hedley@yahoo.com) to ensure we don’t miss you.”
