“It’s a charity we’ve supported in the past and it was our pleasure to help again” – Rotarians’ Burns Night celebrations spark a £1,000 donation to EACH

Kind-hearted Rotarians celebrated Burns Night in style and raised £1,000 for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

The Rotary Club of Colchester held its themed event at Wivenhoe House Hotel, within the grounds of Essex University.

Eighty guests attended the dinner-dance and, in addition to part of their ticket price being donated, more funds were raised from activities including a raffle.

Rotary Club of Colchester President Nigel Hildreth presented a cheque at EACH’s High Street shop, where he met Shop Manager Sammy Mauldin and Deputy Manager Suzanne Baker.

He said: “We were proud and delighted to be able to present a cheque for £1,000.

“EACH is an incredibly important and worthy cause, caring for and supporting children, young people and families here in North Essex.

“It’s a charity we’ve supported in the past and it was our pleasure to help again.”

Over the years the Rotarians have raised large amounts for other local charities, as well as international causes including Mulanje Hospital, in Malawi.
