Generous golfers got in the swing and raised £20,000 for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH). The event was organised by law firm Birketts and took place at Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club.
Twenty-seven teams took part, with generous donations streaming in throughout the day. Highlights included a ‘Beat the Pro’ challenge against Ryder Cup player and former European Tour number one Ronan Rafferty.
There was also a raffle and popular charity auction, which raised more than £6,500. Chris Schwer is a Partner and Head of Property at Birketts, in addition to being an EACH Trustee.
He said: “It was a pleasure to host our golf day again and I’d like to say a massive thanks to everyone who took part and donated in various ways. Birketts is committed to supporting local charities and we’re very pleased we’ve once again been able to donate to EACH.”
Caroline Allen, Corporate Fundraising Manager at EACH, said: “I can’t emphasise enough just how important fundraising efforts such as this are to our charity.
“The support and care we provide for families, children and young people is only possible with generous donations from those within our communities. Our sincere thanks go to everyone at Birketts, as well as the businesses that took part on the day.”
EACH supports families and cares for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Suffolk and the rest of East Anglia. It has three hospices, including The Treehouse, in Ipswich.
