A giant slippery slide and wobbly floating bridge will be among inflatable obstacles at a brand new Bury St Edmunds fundraiser, Splash Out!
The fun run, featuring foam, water and five obstacles, will be at Nowton Park on Sunday, 12 July. Participants can take on half the 5km course, if they wish, or the go the whole way for maximum enjoyment.
The inflatable obstacles are Treacherous Tunnels, through which people run and slide on their bellies; Dive to Victory, fences over or through which people take a running leap; Giant Ball Pit, an 8m (26ft) long pit with over 10,000 balls floating in water; Slide and Splash, a foamy slide down which people go into a tank of water; and Stepping Stones, giant stepping stones floating on water.
Billie Race, EACH Suffolk Events Fundraiser, said: “We’re hoping to pool off a splash-tastic fundraiser! This isn’t a race, so participants can walk, jog or run, and even bypass obstacles if necessary. The price of your ticket includes a Splash Out! T-shirt, medal and full access to our event village, with food and drink, stalls and activities to make it a proper family day out. This event is backed by an experienced events team, so it should go just swimmingly. Tickets are available now on our website. Dive in!”
Tickets are currently £16 for anyone aged over 16 and £9 for children, who must be at least four years old to take part and accompanied by paying adults. Family tickets, for two adults and two children, are £45 and tickets for teams of six adults or more are £14 per person. Prices will go up one month before the event.
Billie added: “Splash Out! has no official fundraising target, but we’d ask everyone to try raise a minimum £15 as registration fees just cover the cost of the event. By doing so you’ll be helping EACH continue to provide specialist care and support for children with life-threatening conditions, and their families, across the region.”
Participants will set off in waves starting at 10.30am. Head to www.each.org.uk/splashout to secure tickets.
