Siblings enjoyed close encounters with animals ranging from aardvarks and alpacas to tigers and tortoises during a special trip organised by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
The visit to Shepreth Wildlife Park was for children who are either bereaved or have a brother or sister receiving care at Milton.
Fourteen youngsters enjoyed exploring the park, taking part in an animal-themed quiz and also spending time in the education centre, using an interactive sandpit to find out more about the environment.
“It was a fantastic trip and the fact we had a waiting list speaks volumes for how popular our sibling days are becoming,” said EACH Family Support Practitioner Fay Wilde.
“Five of the children were joining us for the first time and it was lovely to see them chatting and sharing jokes.
“That’s exactly what these days are intended to do. They bring siblings together and give them an opportunity to make friends with others who may be in a similar situation, while also having lots of fun.”
The trip, which was sponsored by Telfer Partners, took place on Thursday, 4th April and a return visit is taking place during the May half-term.
The day started and finished at Milton, where the group travelled by luxury coach courtesy of Dews Coaches.
The Cambridge-based company are long-term supporters and provide transport for sibling days completely free of charge.
