QD Commercial Group Holdings helps nook business network hit £500,000 pledge

Sep 24, 2015

QD Commercial Group Holdings has signed-up to the nook business network; pledging to raise at least £25,000 for the nook appeal run to raise £10 million to build a new children’s hospice for Norfolk.

The pledge made by the company, which consists of QD Stores, Lathams of Potter Heigham, Cherry Lane Garden Centres and Thing Me Bobs, has taken the total nook business network pledge to an impressive £500,000, making the nook business network the most successful fundraising initiative of the appeal so far.

QD support the nook appeal

Employing 1,200 staff, QD Commercial Group Holdings is the largestprivately owned store retailer in East Anglia with almost 50 stores across the region. All staff members are on board to help achieve the fundraising goal and every store has a committee dedicated to raising funds.

Carrier bag charges begin in England on October 5th this year as part of the Government’s policy to reduce consumer usage and to protect the environment. As part of their commitment to support the nook appeal, QD Commercial Group Holdings will donate the full 5p levy on every single carrier bag to the appeal, which is estimated to raise thousands of pounds.

David Haycox, QD Commercial Group Holdings Retail Operations Director, said: “We’re an intrinsically East Anglian business, with all but one of our stores based in the region, so we wanted to support a charity which operates in our community and EACH is the perfect fit.

“All of our staff are dedicated to making this partnership a success and really looking forward to getting started. The work EACH does for local families is fantastic and we want to help raise funds to ensure those services continue and most importantly improve through the new hospice; the nook.

“EACH is about making the most of precious time, making memories and having fun and our focus will be on having fun while raising funds for such a worthy cause. I’m confident that our pledge to donate the full 5p levy on every carrier bag combined with our store activity will ensure we can raise considerable sums for the nook appeal.”

Gary Cook, EACH nook appeal Corporate Fundraiser, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome QD Commercial Group Holding to the nook business network for what we believe will be a very successful partnership.

“With planned store fundraising activities, donations from the carrier bag levy, a recent donation of garden furniture and accessories for our garden in the Sandringham Flower Show and an initial  donation of £1,000, things are looking really good for the future. We’re really excited about this partnership and what it will bring in terms of awareness, support and of course the financial element of fundraising and we can’t wait to work with the QD team.”
