A group of nine runners will be paying for a weekend of care and support from EACH across Suffolk.
It costs the charity £5,300 a day to deliver its service in the county and members of Running for EACH Other raised more than double that by taking on the London Marathon and Colchester Half Marathon this year.
The close-knit group of friends, almost all from Felixstowe, joined forces after Kate Long was successful in securing a London Marathon spot.
Kate was joined in training by Keri Symonds, Laura Barrow, Meggan Poole, Lucy Sheehan, Lacey Gale, Alexandra Carr, Katie Smith and Hannah Devine, who all signed up for the Colchester Half Marathon, despite some of them having never done anything like it before.
Among other events they organised to supplement their fundraising was a glitter ball at the Hangar, Milsoms Kesgrave Hall.
Kate said: “We’re so thrilled to have been able to raise such a large amount of money for EACH. We were so well supported by friends and family who got behind our running challenges and attended our ball. The charity does such amazing work for children and their families, and we hope our fundraising goes some way towards supporting its fantastic work.”
The friends’ fundraising has brought in £12,062 for EACH and, to celebrate, they will be given a tour of The Treehouse, on Saturday (16 December).
Natasha Brame says: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to these nine ladies for their marathon efforts in raising money for us. We have to bring in more than £5 million from fundraising every year, so community support like this is absolutely vital.”
