Family obstacle course and mud run returning to Suffolk

An obstacle course and mud run that raised some £12,000 for EACH in its first ever staging last year will return this June.

The Piglet, Junior Hog is an entry-level version of the Whole Hog and Boss Hog runs that have been part of the Suffolk calendar for over 10 years. Its debut at Wantisden Hall, near Woodbridge, was a huge success as 550 people enjoyed a muddy, fun-filled day out. This year there are already over 180 set to take part.

The event will take place on Sunday, 7 June. It will be at the same place and once again sponsored by Taylor Wimpey East Anglia.

There will be two courses. One will be over two-and-a-half kilometres and feature at least 10 obstacles. Children aged eight to 11 can take part, provided each is accompanied by a participating adult. The other will be over four kilometres and feature at least 20 obstacles. It will be open to anyone aged 12 and over.

Becky Redbond, EACH Events Fundraising Manager, said: “We’ve been the Whole Hog charity partner since 2017 and we were absolutely delighted when the organisers, Eight Point Two, decided to take their support a step further last year. As a first-time event, the Piglet, Junior Hog was a resounding success and we really hope to see it develop and evolve into a mainstay. Anyone who took part last year will know there’s great fun to be had, with the courses featuring obstacles like cargo nets, tunnels, rivers and monkey bars. It’s extra special that parents can bring along their children to not only watch, but also take part. We look forward to seeing many families as well as Whole Hog and Boss Hog fans just wanting to run a shorter route.”

Caroline Carter, Taylor Wimpey East Anglia Sales and Marketing Director, said: “EACH is a fantastic charity and we’re delighted to be able to continue to offer our support by sponsoring the Piglet, Junior Hog event. Our work across East Anglia brings us into contact with many families who may one day benefit from the care and compassion shown by the charity’s staff and volunteers. We’re looking forward to the event and hope the participants raise plenty of money for EACH.”

Runners will set off in waves at 9.30am, 10am, 10.30am, 11am and 11.30am. Tickets range in price from £12.50 to £17.50. Everyone will receive a medal at the end. There will be food and refreshments available.
