A charity’s elephant mascot popped in to trumpet the second birthday of one of its High Street shops.
ECHO!, from East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH), joined staff and volunteers for Saturday’s celebrations in Colchester.
There was a colouring activity with prizes up for grabs and the birthday revelry also marked the launch of the shop’s Spring range.
Genine Woodcock, EACH’s retail area manager for the south, said: “The sun shone and we had a wonderful day.
“We were busy throughout and everyone had great fun.
“Customers were very positive and enthusiastic about our shop and lots of children coloured in some very beautiful elephant pictures.”
ECHO! is used to describe EACH’s work to children. The letters stand for ‘Everyone in the family is included’, ‘Care for children who are poorly’, ‘Home or hospice, wherever we’re needed’ and ‘Outstanding care and support when families need it most’.
EACH has two shops in Colchester, with the other being its Angora Park store in Peartree Road, Stanway. There are more in Clacton, Dovercourt and Halstead.
The charity supports families and cares for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across North Essex, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.
“I’d like to say a big thank you to all the volunteers who helped our celebrations go with a swing,” added Genine.
“They did a wonderful job and are so important to everything we do.”
