“People may hear the word ‘hospice’ and conjure up images of a scary, depressing environment. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth and this is a perfect way to highlight that” – EACH is planning a day of Easter fun

East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) is opening its grounds to the public for an Easter Egg-stravaganza.

There will be live music, facepainting and an egg hunt at The Nook, in Framingham Earl, on Sunday (24th March).

The fun day, which will also include arts and crafts, a tombola, raffle and refreshments, is taking place between 11am and 3pm.

“It’s the second time we’ve organised this event and last year’s was a great success, despite awful weather,” said EACH Senior Community Fundraiser Ellie Miller.

“Nearly 200 people came along and helped us raise almost £1,500.

“We were delighted by the positive feedback and now we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back to our beautiful hospice.

“The Nook is a stunning place and this is an opportunity to showcase it, as well as raising awareness and perhaps changing perceptions.”

Live music is being provided by steel pan band Spangle and BroadBeat Choir.

There will be a special appearance from ECHO! – EACH’s elephant mascot used to describe its work to children. The letters stand for ‘Everyone in the family is included’, ‘Care for children who are poorly’, ‘Home or hospice, wherever we’re needed’ and ‘Outstanding care and support when families need it most’.

“People may hear the word ‘hospice’ and conjure up images of a scary, depressing environment,” added Ellie.

“In reality, nothing could be further from the truth and this is a perfect way to highlight that, while having lots of Easter fun.”

The public can come and go as they please and do not need to book tickets, although they are encouraged to register their interest here.

Entry is free; stalls and activities will be pay as you go and there will also be a £4 charge per child for the Easter egg hunt (payable on the day).

Children have the chance to hunt for letters around the hospice grounds which form a word. Those that work out that word will win a chocolate egg.

The eggs have been donated by Tesco, Nationwide, NIQ Brandbank and One Stop, with raffle prizes supplied by Hoveton Hall Estate, Motorsport Vision – Snetterton and Willow Gallery Ceramic Painting Studio.
