Generous diners clubbed together to cook up a tasty treat for charity.
The Chestnut Group, which has 16 pubs with rooms across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk, donated all bill donations during the busy festive season to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
When settling up, customers had the chance to make a contribution to the charity. A running total was kept and the final total across the company’s portfolio was an incredible £10,100.
Head of Marketing Tori Dexter delivered a cheque when being shown around EACH’s Milton hospice by Corporate Fundraiser Hannah Forbester.
Tori said: “We were delighted with the amount of money raised and would like to thank all our guests who donated so generously.
“EACH is a wonderful charity and I was humbled to be shown around the hospice, to see where the money would be spent. With the number of families needing support increasing each year, we hope to continue working together with future fundraising.”
Chestnut has seven properties in Suffolk, four in Norfolk, three in Cambridgeshire and two in Essex.
Hannah said: “It’s an amazing amount of money and our sincere thanks go to Chestnut and all the customers who donated so generously over Christmas. We’re very grateful to them for rolling out this initiative and pleased to have them on board supporting us.
“Their values are very much in line with ours and, like us, they are very family and community-orientated.”
EACH, which supports families and cares for children and young people with life-threatening conditions, has three hospices – Milton, The Treehouse, in Ipswich, and The Nook, in Framingham Earl, near Norwich.
