Oh Come, All Ye Faithful!
A leading children’s charity is getting in the festive spirit by hosting a series of eagerly-awaited Christmas treats.
East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) has announced dates for its popular community carol services, in addition to spectacular Winter Wonderland events at its Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire bases.
The public are invited to them all and it is hoped the celebratory events will help raise funds and awareness in the build-up to Christmas.
Three carol services are being planned – three in Norfolk and one in Essex. The first is the North Norfolk service at Gresham’s School, in Holt, taking place on 5th December.
Another then follows at Norwich Cathedral, on 13th December, before one at Poringland’s Our Lady of the Annunciation on 17th December and the final service at Saffron Walden Baptist Church, on 19th December.
All four will be sprinkled with Christmas magic, including popular carols and readings. There will also be a collection for EACH.
“These services are firmly established on our calendar and something we look forward to every year,” said Tina Burdett, EACH’s Community Fundraising Manager.
“We love hosting them and it’s a great way to engage with the public, to raise awareness of our fantastic charity while collectively getting in the Christmas spirit.”
Although entry is free, anyone interested in attending is asked to book a space – to give an idea of numbers – by heading here. The EACH bases – Milton, The Nook, in Framingham Earl, and The Treehouse, in Ipswich – are also hosting Winter Wonderland events, on Sunday 10th December.
They will provide an opportunity for members of the public to see and walk around the beautifully-lit grounds, enjoy mince pies and a hot drink and meet Santa Claus. There will also be festive fun, games and activities for children.
“These are lovely, family-friendly community events and we look forward to welcoming as many people as possible,” added Tina.
“We’re proud of our beautiful, secluded woodland grounds and they’re transformed at this time of year to become a real kaleidoscope of light and colour. It’s spectacular and staff pull out all the stops to decorate and illuminate them.”
The Nook and Milton events are being sponsored by Recipharm and The Treehouse one by LV General Insurance.
Entry is £3 for Milton (4pm until 7pm) and The Nook (3.30pm until 6.30pm), while visitors have the chance to make a donation on the gate at The Treehouse (3pm until 6pm). All events will have stalls, activities, refreshments and the chance to visit with Santa.
There is no need to book in advance. Just pop in on the day.
