Charitable trust makes a £20,000 donation and is “very proud” to support EACH

A charitable trust that supports worthy causes across Norfolk has made a £20,000 donation to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

The R C Snelling Charitable Trust is a corporate foundation associated with the Snelling Group.

It comprises two main trading companies – R C Snelling Limited (trading as Snellings and Gerald Giles) and Snelling Business Systems Limited (trading as Snelling Business Systems and Snelling Education).

The Trust’s aim is to help and support worthy causes – both individuals and organisations – within a 30-mile radius of the village of Blofield.

Its cheque for EACH was handed over during a special presentation at The Nook, in Framingham Earl, near Norwich, on Wednesday morning.

Trustee Stephan Phillips was given a guided tour of the hospice by EACH Chief Executive Phil Gormley.

Mr Phillips said: “The Trustees are very proud to be able to make this grant and support the team at EACH, who continue with their incredible work helping children and families.”

The Trust is a long-term supporter of EACH, which provides care and support for children and young people with life-threatening conditions, and their families, across Norfolk.

It has been supporting the charity since 2008, with its previous donation being for £15,000, to be spent on equipment and projects at The Nook.

Mr Gormley said: “This is a very generous donation and one we are extremely grateful for.

“It will make a huge difference in terms of allowing us to continue looking after and supporting the children, young people and families in our care.

“We are also delighted to continue our long and proud association with the R C Snelling Charitable Trust, which does such a wonderful job of helping and supporting special causes across Norfolk.”

The Trust makes donations to causes that have a medical, educational, religious, welfare or environmental resource connection and in 2019-2020 it gave grants to more than 60 causes.

The Snellings Group has existed for over 50 years and the Trust was registered in 1999.

R C Snelling Limited provides the rental, retail and servicing of televisions and home appliances.

Snelling Business Systems Limited deals with the provision and maintenance of integrated audio visual systems, including interactive displays for schools and communications technology.

Notes to Editors

“We’d heard about EACH and knew they were a fantastic cause that had supported families we knew, but we never thought we’d be the ones that needed them! Sadly, as fantastic as it is, their service will always be required, and every child who needs their help deserves to have it.”

  • We care for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk, and support their families.
  • We offer families flexibility and control over where they receive their care and support, including where their child dies – at home, in hospital or at one of three hospices at Milton (Cambridge), The Nook (Norfolk) and The Treehouse (Ipswich).
  • Our family-centred approach includes specialist nursing care, symptom management support, short breaks, wellbeing activities, therapies and counselling, all meeting the individual needs of the child, young person and whole family.
  • We are recognised as leaders in our field, with a reputation for excellence and commitment to pioneering development and innovation.
  • We rely on voluntary donations for the majority of our income and this year need to raise £5.5 million from fundraising and £5.4 million in income from our shops. The year before the pandemic we received just 16% of our total income from statutory sources.
  • EACH Royal Patron – Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge.
