"It was at the age of 33 that I realised my days of playing football were nearing the end as I walked across the landing one morning to go to the bathroom. My ankes cracked like a lion tamer's whip and my knees creaked worse than the floorboards I was walking on, not to mention my body feeling like I had gone six rounds with Mike Tyson. The reason for all this pain and discomfort was a result of playing football at weekends, something I did for fun and enjoyment!".

Graham Apperley, a local referee for many years, has written a book about his times as a referee. A very entertaining read with lots of tales from the many football grounds around the Suffolk area.
