Xanthe Rose Nedzynski 07/09/11 - 12/09/11
Perfect in every way, Xanthe's cord got caught around her shoulder during birth, cutting off her oxygen supply for long enough to stop her little heart from beating. Brought back to us by our wonderful midwives, she was rushed to hospital.
Brave little Xanthe battled on for 6 days despite all the odds, giving us, her family, precious moments with our beautiful angel that otherwise would have been lost.
Tragically though, the damage caused was too great for Xanthe to recover from and she could no longer keep up the fight.
We were incredibly lucky at this difficult time to be introduced to the EACH hospice at Milton, Cambridgeshire. The amazing staff helped us to make the most of the time we had left with our daughter, creating unforgetable memories and sharing moments of happiness.
We were able to say goodbye to our little girl with peace and dignity, and the beauty of these final moments will live with us forever.
The ongoing support for us as parents and for our families has surpassed anything we could have imagined and we honestly don't know how we would have coped during this impossible time if it wasn't for the hopice.
Our little Xanthe was a trail-blazer; the first baby ever to successfully make the transition from the NICU ward at Addenbrookes to the Milton hospice. It is for the future of this 'NICU Pathway' that we particularly wish to raise money in Xanthe's name, giving other families the peace, dignity and beauty we experienced during a time when it felt such things should be impossible.
