7 Oct 09: Winner boosts donations
7th October 2009
An RAF Lakenheath employee has shown his dedication to a local charity, by increasing his monthly donation to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) following a Local Hospice Lottery win.
Pat Thompson simply couldn’t believe his luck when he scooped the Local Hospice Lottery’s top prize of £1,500 last week.
Mr Thompson, who works at the Car Care Centre on the base, moved to the UK from California in 1996 and is now planning to move from Ely in Cambridgeshire to Brandon in Suffolk to be nearer to his workplace.
Mr Thompson said: "I entered the Local Hospice Lottery about 18 months ago to support such a great charity but I never thought I would win anything.
"I am moving house so the money will come in very handy, but since winning the top prize in the Local Hospice Lottery I have increased my monthly donation to the charity.
"They do such a wonderful job across the region and I wanted to do something to show my appreciation."
EACH provides care and support for life-threatened children and their families in their own homes, as well as at the charity’s hospices based at Ipswich in Suffolk, which also serves North Essex, Quidenham in Norfolk and Milton in Cambridgeshire.
