Shoppers will take a trip down memory lane this weekend (Fri 4th and Sat 5th Sept) when they visit Wilkinson and walk back into the classroom. Wilkinson staff across East Anglia will be dressing up in school uniform and holding a back to school party in store to raise money for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) as part of Wilkinson’s charity of the year partnership with Children’s Hospices UK.
It won’t just be school ties and satchels gracing the shop floor this weekend. Staff feeling nostalgic about their younger years will be dressing up as what they wanted to be when they grew up so expect lots of footballers, astronauts and princesses!
Every one of the retailer’s 325 stores will be fundraising over the next year for one of the UK’s 41 children’s hospices. The staff from each store will be raising money for children’s hospice services which provide care and support to children and young people who are not expected to reach adulthood and their families.
Sally Cassels, EACH corporate fundraiser, said: "The stores seem to have a lot of fun while they are fundraising and the ‘mature’ school kids in stores this time around will no doubt be an interesting sight!
"We’re lucky to be receiving support from Wilkinson at both a national and a local level, with all the stores in our region enthusiastically participating to raise yet more money for the EACH hospices.
"A huge thank you to everyone involved for adding even more to the funds already raised by Wilkinson’s this year."
Phil Birt, regional manager for Wilkinson, said: "With all the children going back to school this month we wanted to relive our school days and raise money for such an important cause at the same time! The back to school party is part of Wilkinson’s year-long fundraising activities to support Children’s Hospices UK and specifically in this area, East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices."
