Not content with pushing himself to his physical limit just once or twice for charity; a Cambridge triathlete is now gearing up to complete his tenth triathlon in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
On September 20th, father-of-two, Luke Wright, 36, of HillCrest, Bar Hill, Cambridge, will participate in his tenth and final triathlon, which it being held in Southwell, Nottinghamshire- bringing to an end a five-month period of training, travelling and competing.
Luke decided to compete in 10 triathlons in aid of EACH, which provides care and support for life-threatened children and their families in their own homes, as well as at the charity’s hospices based at Milton in Cambridge, Ipswich and Quidenham, as it is a local charity close to his heart.
"The last year or so I have reflected on my life and realised that it has been a good one to date, and that some people are much less fortunate than me", he said.
"I really wanted to make a difference and as I’m Cambridge born and bred, I wanted to support something locally, so to me there was only one choice- East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices", he added.
Luke, who is married to Alex, 37, and has two children- Frankie, four, and Charlie, nine months, has already raised £969 of his £1,000 target, but would love to raise even more for EACH.
And to help the cause, Luke’s dad has paid all of the triathlon entry fees and travel costs to ensure every penny goes to EACH.
