11 Mar 10: St Ives Freemasons
11th March 2010
The Freemason’s Sothius Lodge in St Ives has donated funds to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) to help provide care and support to life-threatened children and their families.
The funds were raised by the Sothius Lodge through a variery of social events and raffles, under the leadership of Laurie Gray - last year’s Sothius Lodge master. Both Laurie Gray, and Bill Hensley, Sothius Lodge secretary, visited the EACH Milton hospice on Tuesday 9th March to deliver a cheque for £1,400.
Mr Gray said: "EACH is an incredibly worthwhile cause and I decided I wanted to support the charity in my year of office because of the vital work they do in the local community."
Beccy Turner, EACH community fundraising assistant said: "We would like to thank the Sothius Lodge for their generosity and support.
"At EACH we rely upon voluntary donations for the majority of our income and their gift will ensure we can continue to deliver care and support to local life-threatened children and their families."
EACH provides care and support for life-threatened children and their families in their own homes, as well as at the charity’s hospices based at Ipswich in Suffolk, which also serves North Essex, Quidenham in Norfolk and Milton in Cambridgeshire.
Some children may only have a short time to live, perhaps only weeks or months, others may reach early adulthood but the EACH aim is always the same – to enhance their quality of life and support their family.
EACH is a registered charity that relies upon public support for the majority of its required income of around £5.8 million.
