20 Oct 09: Saffron Walden Seniors

20th October 2009

Saffron Walden Golf Club Seniors have clubbed together to raise more than £3,000 for local charity East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

The club, who have supported the charity for a number of years, collected the staggering sum at team matches, raffles, a seniors captain's day and a street collection.

EACH provides care and support for life-threatened children and their families in their own homes, as well as at the charity’s hospices based at Milton in Cambridgeshire, Quidenham in Norfolk and Ipswich in Suffolk, which also serves North Essex. This year it is anticipated it will cost about £5.8 million to run all three hospice services and approximately 72 per cent of this is required from voluntary donations.

A cheque for a total of £3008.89 was presented to Beccy Turner, EACH community fundraising assistant for Cambridgeshire and North Essex, by Seniors Captain Leon North at the Seniors recent AGM.

Miss Turner said: "It has been another successful year for the Saffron Walden Golf Club Seniors and we are absolutely delighted to receive this cheque which will help us continue to support local life-threatened children.

"I’d like to say a huge thank you to Leon and all the Saffron Walden Seniors for supporting EACH again this year."
