11 Sept 09: Ride for Life raises £60k

11th September 2009

Cyclists and walkers of all ages and abilities have managed to raise a staggering £60,000 for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) after taking part in this year’s Ride For Life event.

Ride For Life, which is sponsored by the EDP, has been running for 16 years and has now raised in excess of £620,000 for EACH.

This year’s event took place on May 17th and saw a total of 1242 people completing cycle rides and walks through Thetford Forest ranging from three miles to 35 miles.

Organisers of this year’s event would like to thank participants not only for their fundraising efforts, but also for their dedication, as the weather conditions were poor on the day of the event.

Karen Chesney, EACH Events Fundraiser, said: “We would like to thank everyone who took part in this year’s Ride For Life and helped to make it such a great success.

“As always, there was a great buzz and everyone who took part really enjoyed themselves and raised lots of money, and we hope this will continue next year.

“We would also like to say a big thank you to the volunteers from RAF Honington and USAF Mildenhall for all their help and support.”

A presentation evening to acknowledge the top corporate, individual, team and family fundraisers will be held in the coming months.

Next year’s event will take place on Sunday May 16th, and people will be able to sign up via the EACH website from February.
