25 Mar 10: Perse pupils get planting
25th March 2010
Pupils from Perse Girls Junior School in Cambridge have donated trees to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice (EACH) to mark their school’s 50th anniversary.
Pupils from the school’s eco-committee planted the beech, rowan and hornbeam trees at the charity’s Milton hospice.
A total of 50 trees have been donated to both EACH and Milton Country Park; one to mark each year the school has occupied its current site at St Eligius Street in Cambridge.
Nicky Jackson, EACH community fundraiser, said: "We are delighted Perse Girls Junior School have chosen to donate trees to EACH to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
"Our grounds are an important part of the care we provide to life-threatened children and the trees will certainly enhance the natural environment at the hospice."
EACH provides care and support for life-threatened children and their families in their own homes, as well as at the charity’s hospices based at Ipswich in Suffolk, which also serves North Essex, Quidenham in Norfolk and Milton in Cambridgeshire.
EACH is a registered charity that relies upon public support for the majority of its required income of around £5.8 million.
