14th October 2009
Norwich City Football Club is showing their support for the Kings Lynn Santa Run in aid of local charity East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
On Tuesday 13th October club captain Gary Doherty was in Kings Lynn’s Vancouver Quarter to launch the town’s Santa Run which is a great fun event the whole family can enjoy while raising funds for a worthwhile cause.
A number of Santa Runs are held across East Anglia every year and involve people of all ages dressing up as Santas and getting sponsorship from family, friends and colleagues to run a route around their local town or city to raise funds for EACH.
EACH provides care and support for life-threatened children and their families in their own homes, as well as at the charity’s hospices based at Quidenham in Norfolk, Milton in Cambridgeshire and Ipswich in Suffolk, which also serves North Essex. This year it is anticipated that it will cost around £5.8 million to run all 3 hospice services - approximately 72 per cent of this is required from voluntary donations.
Norwich City are riding high in League One - taking sixth place after their 1-0 triumph over Carlisle on Saturday 10th Oct, and it’s great to have their support for the Santa Run in Kings Lynn.
Vancouver Quarter is sponsoring this year’s Kings Lynn Santa Run.
Karen Chesney, EACH events fundraiser, said: "Santa Runs are a great way to have fun and raise vital funds for EACH, and we hope as many people as possible sign up for the event.
"It’s great to know we have the support of Norwich City Football Club to encourage people to sign up for what will be a fun and worthwhile event."
