Christmas can be a wasteful time of year. Thrown-away presents are said to swell each Briton’s carbon footprint by about 80kg, British households use enough wrapping paper to stretch to the moon, and more than two million unwanted Christmas gifts were put up for auction on eBay last year.
Instead of buying a traditional present for someone you love this Christmas, which may go unused, buy them a gift of care, so East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) can continue to deliver vital care and support to life-threatened children and their families across East Anglia and North Essex.
East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) is a local charity which provides care and support for life-threatened children and their families in their own homes, as well as at the charity’s hospices based at Milton (Cambs), Quidenham (Norfolk) and Ipswich (Suffolk), which serves North Essex.
Some children may only have a short time to live, perhaps only weeks or months, others may reach early adulthood but the EACH aim is always the same- to enhance their quality of life and support their family.
This year it is anticipated that it will cost about £5.8 million to run all three of our hospice services – last year approximately 72 per cent of our income came from voluntary donations.
The majority of EACH costs are not for specialist equipment, but for delivering the care and support so vital to the children and their families.
Donations for a gift of care can be for any amount, or people can choose to donate a specific gift, as listed below:
£7.50 pays for meals for 24 hours for a child or family member at one of the hospices.
£18.00 pays for a nursing care kit for delivering care in the family home.
£36.00 pays for an hour of care at end of life, at the family home or in one of the hospices.
£63.00 pays for a session of music therapy with a music therapist at the family home or in one of the hospices.
£72.00 pays for two hours of short break care at the family home or in one of the hospices.
£105.00 pays for a session of family support, before and after bereavement.
For each gift you buy, we send you a special ‘Rosie’s Story card’ for giving to your friend or relative as a gift.
