16 Sept 09: Foyles War comes to Aldeburgh

16th September 2009

One of the stars of the hit war-time TV show Foyle’s War will grace the seaside town of Aldeburgh next month when the opening episode of a brand new series is aired for the first time - with all proceeds going to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

On October 17th Honeysuckle Weeks, who plays Samantha Stewart in the show, will attend Aldeburgh cinema, which is screening ‘The Russian House’- the first episode taken from the brand new seventh series.

There will be a drinks reception and screening of the episode, followed by a Q&A session with writer Anthony Horowitz, producer Jill Green and Honeysuckle Weeks.

Anthony Horowitz said: “This may be the last series of Foyle's War and The Russian House is like nothing we've ever shot before. It's more of a conspiracy thriller than a detective story and reveals a dark secret from the last days of the war. I am delighted that we can show it on the big screen.”

Foyle's War was first aired in 2001 and now has a huge following in thirty-six countries. Set in Hastings during the war years, it is a detective series like no other, following the exploits of Detective Chief Superintendent Foyle (played by Michael Kitchen) as he solves murders against a backdrop of unprecedented turmoil and tension.

‘The Russian House’ is a fast-paced thriller that takes place partly in Hastings but also in the bombed-out streets of London and is Foyle's War as you’ve never seen it before.

East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) has three children’s hospice care services based at Milton in Cambridge, Quidenham in Norfolk and Ipswich in Suffolk, which also serves North Essex. EACH is a registered charity that relies on public support for approximately 72% of their required income of around £5.8million a year – this amounts to nearly £11,500 a day from voluntary donations.

Doors for the event will open at 7pm for a screening at 7.30pm. Tickets are £20 each including a glass of wine on arrival and all proceeds will go to EACH.
