Runners of all abilities are being urged to compete in the London Marathon in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
Ballot places for the 2011 London Marathon have now been allocated, but EACH is calling upon anyone who has a place but has yet to choose a charity to run in aid of, to support their local children’s hospice.
EACH provides care and support for life-threatened children and their families in their own homes, as well as at the charity’s hospices based at Ipswich in Suffolk, which also serves North Essex, Quidenham in Norfolk and Milton in Cambridgeshire.
Some children may only have a short time to live, perhaps only weeks or months, others may reach early adulthood but the EACH aim is always the same – to enhance their quality of life and support their family.
The London Marathon, which takes place on Sunday 17 April, 2011, is the largest annual fundraising event on the planet, and runners have raised more than £450 million for charity since the race began in 1981.
