Students and staff from Stanground College in Peterborough wowed crowds on Sunday March 20 when they burst into an energetic flash mob dance in the city’s Queensgate Shopping Centre.
A group of 120 individuals took shoppers by surprise when they emerged from the crowd to perform a dance in aid of EACH.
Beckie Barnes, who is a dancer teacher at the college, choreographed the dance and invited friends to take part too. She said: “It was such a success and really great fun. All the people in the shopping centre came to look and I’m impressed with how well the pupils performed. Some of them were dance students, but many of them weren’t.
“We do a number of extra curricular activities at the college, and I thought a flash mob would be a great way to have fun, use skills learned at college and raise funds too.
“EACH is Queensgate’s charity of the year, and it is such an important cause which is why we chose the charity to benefit from the event.
“Pupils from year 7, right up to year 13, took part and they all worked really well together, depsite a big age gap. This is something we would definitely do again. “
The flash mob took place three times during Sunday and collections were held with shoppers donating an impressive £305.49 to the charity.
