19.Jan.11: The EACH Grand Prix 2011

19th January 2011

Petrolheads are being urged to put their foot to the floor to raise funds for a children’s hospice charity.

The EACH Grand Prix 2011 takes place on Sunday April 10, 2011 at Ellough Park Raceway near Beccles in Suffolk, and will see teams of three battle it out to be crowned champions.

The event is being organised by Olly Larkin, 23, from The Maltings in Dereham and his fiancee Claire Ballam. The event has been running since 2005, and this is is the second time it has been held in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

The charity is close to the couple’s hearts- one of Olly’s friends has benefitted from support from EACH. Olly said: “EACH is such an important charity which is why we have decided to raise funds for them again. I first organised an event of this kind when I was 17, and I have continued to do so since then.

“It’s hard balancing studying, employment and organising this event, but it’s worth it. I want to encourage people to sign-up to the EACH Grand Prix 2011 because it’s great fun and raises vital funds too.”
To participate in the event you must organise a team of three drivers and raise a suggested sponsorship of £100. The race entry fee is only £75 per team, which covers all kart racing equipment, as well as more than 25 minutes worth of racing per driver. A maximum of 35 teams can take part in the challenge.

Trophies will be awarded to the race and podium winners, as well as the chance to claim overall victory in the Super Final, to be held at the end of the event. Teams already signed up to the event include Sir John Leman High School, Economy Car Hire, Saxon Packaging and Morrisons.
