17.Mar.11: Ipswich school children to raise funds

17th March 2011

Pupils from 10 primary schools across Ipswich are preparing for a fundraising day in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) Treehouse Appeal.

Organised by Stephen Wood, head teacher at Clifford Road Primary School in Ipswich, March 23 will see pupils and staff from 10 schools across East Ipswich raising funds.

Clifford Road, along with a number of schools including Britannia, Murrayfield, Rose Hill, Pipers Vale, Broke Hall, and Ravenswood will host activities including cake sales, table top sales, and a sponsored walk.
Pupils from Cliff Road Primary School have worked on presentations about the event, which they delivered at school assemblies in their area. They hope to inspire their peers to get involved and raise as much money as possible for the appeal.

Mr Wood said: “EACH is such an important local cause and we think it is important for our pupils to support charities and understand the work they do in the community.
“March 23 should be a great day, with lots of fun, and we are hoping schools can raise £450-500 each, meaning we could raise up to £5,000 between the 10 schools involved in the day.”

All funds raised by the pupils will go towards delivering vital care and support to life-threatened children and their families in Suffolk and North Essex. This includes care being given at the current hospice which will transfer to the Treehouse in May 2011. Patsy Johnson, EACH fundraiser, said: “We are delighted that Mr Wood at Cliff Road Primary School has decided to support the appeal along with nine other schools in the area.
“We wish pupils luck in their efforts and look forward to hearing about what they get up to and how much they raise.”
