A Cambridge Bootcamp is encouraging ladies to lose weight and raise funds for a local children’s hospice.
Cambridge Bootcamps, which is run by Charlie Wall, and holds regular fitness sessions at Parkers Piece, Coldham’s Common, Cherry Hinton, Histon and Cambourne, will donate £1 to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) in Milton for every 1lb lost by participants.
So not only will the ladies-only group help participants to stick to their New year’s resolution of losing weight and getting fit and healthy, but will also provide care and support to life-threatened children and their families across Cambridgeshire.
Free trial sessions will be taking place throughout next week (Monday Jan 10th- Friday Jan 14th) and ladies are being invited to try it out for themselves. They will be encouraged to sign-up to the challenge of losing weight to improve their health and fitness, as well as raising funds for a vital local cause.
Becoming a member of Cambridge Bootcamps, which has been running sessions since May 2009, will include participation in weekly fitness sessions, a nutritional plan and website/ email support.
Charlie said: “I can’t wait to get the challenge started. It’s a win-win situation. You’ll lose weight and raise funds for a vital cause at the same time.
“We already have 150 active members and 367 registered with the support website- many of whom are really excited by the challenge. Many of the ladies have also said they will match their own funds to whatever weight they lose to- and we’re hoping to raise lots of funds for EACH.
“I hope the free sessions next week will encourage more ladies to get involved to see for themselves what they can achieve. Unlike gyms and many other fitness programmes on offer, all of our sessions take place outside; they are ladies only and include a nutritional plan and support online or via email.
“Many of the ladies who are already members are starting to wear bikinis for the first time- they look and feel great.”
Nicky Jackson, EACH community fundraiser, said: “We’re delighted that Charlie has chosen to use an innovative way of raising funds for EACH. It’s a great way to help yourself and a local charity, and we would encourage as many ladies to sign-up as possible.”
